FAQ for Buyers Sourcing PGE Flange Isolating Gasket Kits

What is a PGE flange isolating gasket kit?
The PGE flange isolating gasket kit was designed to give operators an alternative to failure-prone phenolic-based isolating gaskets. The unique design incorporates patented overlapping and offsetting seal grooves that break each layer of laminate within the gasket, creating a barrier through which fluid and gas cannot migrate. The sealing ring element can be any elastomeric material, as well as more sophisticated spring-energized PTFE lip seals. The kit is suitable for raised-face and flat-face flanges in ANSI Class 150, 300 and 600 service.
What is the difference between PGE and phenolic flange isolation gaskets?
Phenolic-based isolating gaskets are prone to failure because fluid can migrate along the laminate layers. The PGE kit solves this with patented overlapping and offsetting seal grooves that break every laminate layer, creating a barrier through which fluid and gas cannot migrate. This design delivers maintenance-free flange isolation and flange face corrosion mitigation economically, and is rated for most hydrocarbon and water service applications depending on the sealing element selected.
What is the difference between Type E and Type F PGE kits?
Type F is the ring style, where the gasket has the same outside diameter as the raised face of the flange. Type E is the full-face style, where the gasket extends to the outside diameter of the flange and has bolt holes matched to the flange bolt circle. Type E provides additional protection against flange face corrosion and is often preferred for flat-face flanges. Type F is used on raised-face flanges. Send the flange drawing for a firm recommendation.
What sealing elements are available for PGE kits?
The sealing ring element can be any elastomeric material (e.g. Viton, EPDM, Buna-N) or a more sophisticated spring-energized PTFE lip seal. The selection depends on the process medium, operating temperature, required dielectric strength and the required sealing performance. Send the medium and operating temperature for a firm recommendation.
What is the difference between NEMA G-10 and NEMA G-11?
Both are glass-reinforced epoxy laminate grades. NEMA G-10 offers higher compressive strength (66,000 psi) and higher dielectric strength (800 VPM) with a continuous operating temperature of 150°C. NEMA G-11 offers a higher continuous operating temperature of 200°C with compressive strength of 50,000 psi and dielectric strength of 550 VPM. Select G-10 for maximum dielectric strength, G-11 for higher temperature service.
What is the maximum pressure class for a PGE kit?
The PGE flange isolating gasket kit is rated for low-pressure service, specifically ANSI Class 150, 300 and up to 600. It is not a high-pressure gasket and should not be used above Class 600. For higher pressure classes, a different isolation gasket design or a Kammprofile isolation gasket should be specified. Send the pressure class for a firm recommendation.
What is the MOQ and lead time for a PGE kit order?
MOQ is 10 pieces. Typical lead time is 7–30 days depending on size, sealing element and order quantity. Custom sizes, OEM marking and private-label packaging are available. Send your flange specification for a firm quotation and confirmed delivery date.
Can you custom manufacture PGE flange isolating gasket kits?
Yes. Kaxite Sealing manufactures custom PGE flange isolating gasket kits in non-standard sizes, Type E full-face and Type F ring styles, with various gasket core, insulating sleeve, insulating washer and steel washer materials. OEM marking and private-label packaging are available for B2B buyers. Send the drawing or sample for matching.
